Announcing our Photo Contest - now through July 4th
Taos Alliance for Public Health and Safety is holding our 1st Annual Photo Contest with a focus on the beautiful Rio Grande Gorge Bridge area, which would be seriously impacted by a planned 50’ cell tower to be constructed nearby. We are seeking to raise awareness and ultimately preserve this special landscape for the enjoyment of all our residents and visitors, realizing that this tower by the National Monument would be the first of many more to follow.
We invite you to participate by sharing your best images - highlighting not only the bridge but also the surroundings within a 2 mile radius, as that is the intended signal reach of the already permitted tower. We will have both professional and amateur photographers as judges - final decisions will be made on July 4th and announced shortly thereafter, so please stay tuned!
The Submission categories:
*Best Youth Photo
*Best Wildlife Photo
*Best Landscape Photo
*Best Black & White Photo
*Best Abstract/Creative Photo
*Best Social Media Photo
*Best Photoshopped Picture
We have lots of great prizes waiting for the lucky winners, kindly donated by many local businesses - we look forward to your beautiful pictures! Please keep checking this website: www.TaosAlliance.org for updates & details.

5G
near the Gorge?
What’s going on:
1. Last fall, the Taos County Commissioners approved an application by a company called Hemphill to place a cellphone tower near the Gorge Bridge that can be upgraded to 5G, despite public opposition, including a petition with over 500 signatures.
2. A legal appeal was filed on behalf of Nick Jaramillo and the Taos Alliance for Public Health and Safety, saying that the Taos County Commissioners did not follow proper procedures in approving this application, and also to oppose the location of this cellphone tower for aesthetic, environmental, economic, tourism, wildlife protections and health reasons.
3. Nick Jaramillo and the Taos Alliance for Public Health and Safety hired legal counsel, and are seeking tax deductible donations to help pay for the legal fees to fight the County’s approval of the application.
What YOU can do:
1. Support the legal appeal: make a tax deductible donation here. Be sure to click on Taos Alliance when making your donation which will directly support the legal appeal of the approval of the cellphone tower near the gorge.
Donations are taken through the Cellular Phone Task Force, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Santa Fe founded by Arthur Firstenberg, advocate and author of The Invisible Rainbow: A History of Electricity and Life. Your donation goes directly to Taos Alliance to fund the legal appeal and fight this tower!
*To donate without tax deduction please send a check to:
Tom Eddington 622 Sakai Road, Taos NM 87571
